Reducing toxins in death

You'll probably think this lady is pretty out there, but the factoids in this TED talk (7 minutes) about toxins, burial and cremation are interesting.

  1. Pretty interesting. I always thought I wanted to be cremated, but I didn't realize about the toxins released into the air from cremating humans. I may become a decompinaut!

  2. This is great! Mushrooms are so cool. I saw this guy Paul Stamets at the Green Fest a few years ago and he amazed me.

I never thought mushrooms would inspire me. Supposedly they're more similar to animals than plants. Once, growing up in Miami, I had a fungus in my ear, and that sucked. There are wrong places for fungi and the ear is one of them.

End of random thoughts about mushrooms.

  3. I'm with Jules - I was planning on being cremated and have my ashes spread in the ocean to feed the fish (what Steve requested and I carried out), but I didn't know about the toxins.

I'll have to look into my options here, but I love the idea of feeding mushrooms!
